In May, my husband I finally got a new member in our family....a little French Bulldog that we named Rosco!!! My daughter also got a puppy (that was the size of a small horse, lol) she named her Golden Retreiver Butterscotch. She's a very yummy creamy yellow.

I really enjoyed taking these photos and plan to expand to pet photography.

It's been a while since my last post and lot's of things have happened with Studio 3C. Sadly, I've had to close the studio in West Monroe. We're still doing business, just not in the studio right now. The plan is to build something at our home in Calhoun next year. For right now, we are working on location only.

We are looking forward to cooler weather for sure!!! This fall, we will be having openings for mini-family sessions to get your Christmas cards done. Lots of new card designs will be available to choose from!

Yesterday my cousin and her daughter come to the studio for Jessica's senior photos. I hadn't seen Jessica in a long time, but I recognized her in an instant...She looked just like her mom at that age! I had a great time visiting with them and got some great images! Jessica is very photogenic! With two other girls in high school, we'll be doing more senior sessions!!

Sunday I met up with Lindsey and her mom to some of Lindsey's Senior photos. Lindsey had some really great ideas that she wanted to try and I loved them all! We started the session close to home where Lindsey had this great green truck from the 70's. Then a trip to one of her favorite spots close to her home that required us making our way down a HUGE embankment. I was praying the whole time I was heading down it, not to keep us from falling, but to please let me make it back up it!! lol
The trip was worth it though! The photo on the fallen log is my favorite one taken!!

Out in the country, we arrived at a Gorgeous place with some beautiful horses! Lindsey and I both want to go back there and get some more shots. I loved watching her interact with the horses and as you can tell, I think they were loving it too! She really has a way with them! I played around with this image with the horses to make it look more like an art piece than a photo.

Lindsey, I had a great time and really enjoyed seeing you again and meeting your mom! I can't wait to have another session with you! Thanks again!!

This weekend I had the opportunity to travel to Houston, Tx and have a personal workshop with Jordan Chan of Tricoast Photography. Jordan arranged to have this beautiful Texas senior model for me. We walked around to several different areas in downtown Houston and even keep shooting into the night. Needless to say, this old girl was tired! lol.

We had a great time and I really enjoyed working with Jordan and Alanah. Jordan is a great photographer and very inspiring! Alanah is becoming a model and is also a photographer and I believe that she will do very well!

Protect Small Businesses from CPSIA ruling over children's products

Have you ever purchased a toy, blanket or shirt from a craft fair? Or bought a handmade item for your child, grandchild or family member? Some of the time you pay a little more for a handmade item than you do from something from one of the chain stores, but you're paying for quality. You appreciate that. I know that I do.

Soon you may not be able to purchase handmade items for your children.

Here's why....

On Feb. 10th thousands of small business will face closure due to a new law passed by President Bush and Congress. While this law was put in place to protect our children from harmful chemicals in their toys, the far reaching aspect was not taken into account and thousands of people will be hurt. Small business/craftsmen/artisans will not be able to afford the required testing of items that do not contain the hazardous chemicals.

A hand knitted hat for a baby that I paid $18 dollars for in November will cost me no less than $168 after Feb. 10th. I do a little knitting so I know that the actual cost of this hat was around $5 for the 1 skein used. No other items are needed on it. The knitter that made the hat will now have to pay for testing on items that she makes. If that item contains more than 1 component (ie buttons, zippers, ribbon or a 2nd skien of yarn) then she will have to pay for tests to be performed on those items as well. Testing will begin around $150 per item. If she makes a sweater with 2 different types of yarn and has buttons or snaps on it, then she will have to pay for 3 tests (1 for each different yarn and 1 for the buttons OR snaps.) If those tests are a min. of $150....do the math.....3 x $150 = $450 + cost of goods......Can YOU pay almost $500 for a childs sweater? Well, you may have to IF this artisan is able to stay in business. Most of these people will not survive.

This law is not protecting our children. Most items that will be tested will not contain lead in any form. The cost of testing will trickle down from the big manufacturers to the retail outlets. The consumer will eventually pay for the cost by being forced to pay higher prices for necessary items such as clothing, diapers, bedding. Just what we need just as our economy is going downhill on a daily basis. Smaller businessess and crafters/artisans that make unique and one of a kind children's items will pay the ultimate price. They will simply not be able to pay the testing and pass it on to their client, nor can they simply absorb the cost. Thousands will be forced to stop producing their items. For many, that means bankcruptcy. On the web, Feb. 10, 2009 is being call "National Bankruptcy Day".

While everyone is in agreement that our children should be protected, the way this law was written was not thought out properly. The law came about due the public outrage at all the recalls of the toys that contained lead. Requiring toys arriving from China to be certified as lead free is one thing......requiring a Stay at home mom that knitts baby hats to submit her items for lead testing is another.

This law needs to be repealed and re-written. It needs to outline EXACTLY what poses a threat to our children and GUIDLINES on what is to be tested. Not just a generalization for an age group.

One thing I can say about this family....WOW! So much love is what makes this family wonderful. I've known Carol and Blain for several years now and they are such loving people and I am so happy to be able to present them with family portraits. Their daughter is absolutely beautiful! Meet Mindy and Blake!
Mindy is a Senior and wanted some special photos done at her session. She loves her little cousin Blake and he happened to be in town for Thanksgiving. We did some photos of the two of them together before he had to go home. Blake is such a cutie!!! And such a HAM too!! We did some of Mindy by herself while Blake was ignoring us and having fun running around the studio. Ohhhh if we could only bottle that energy.....lol.

I'll be posting more images of both Mindy and Blake in 2009. Mindy will have a couple more sessions before she graduates and Blake will have in own session scheduled in May when he comes to see is cousin graduate! I'm SO looking forward to more sessions with them both! I had a wonderful time! I love sessions that are full of laughter!

On Thanksgiving day, I went to my brother and sister-in-law's house in Texas. One week before, my sweet little niece was born and this was my chance to get to see her. She is so tiny and sweet! She slept pretty much the entire time I was there...that is until I got my camera out, lol. Then she was awake, and apparently didn't like the poses I put her in, lol. I managed to get some cute shots of her and can't wait to take some more of her!

Session Details:

Nichole ~ Senior 2009

This week I had a session with Nichole, a senior from West Ouachita. Nichole and her mom came to the studio and we had a great time! They are so much fun to be around. Nichole is a great softball player and brought her homerun softballs and her Aaron's Aces shirt. I'm so glad I got to meet both of thess ladies! Nichole, best of luck with your games this year!! Tonight I was able to spend some time with an old friend and her daughter, son-in-law, and adorable grandson! My friend's son-in-law is about to leave to go serve his county, so some quick family photos were needed, and I was more than happy to oblige. This little scooter bug is just too too cute! I can't wait to get him in the studio again soon! Thanks so much you guys for allowing me to photograph your beautiful little family!

Models and a Make-up Artist

Recently, I met up with a hair stylist from my home town of Homer who is also a Make-up Artist. Rhianna is building her portfolio so that she can start doing hair and make-up in the movie industry. We got together this weekend at my studio and she brought along two models. Camille and Kelsey. There are a ton of images to finish going through, but I couldn't wait to show a few of my favorites. I know that the girls are anxious to see them as well.
We had a blast doing this, and Monroe's own 105fm played the best classic rock for us to jam out with! I'm so looking forward to the next shoot we do where we do some of the vintage Hollywood black and whites. Thanks girls!!!!

This weekend my brother Mike, his wife Meredith and their son Graham came to the studio for some photos. They are expecting a baby girl soon so we got a chance to do some maternity photos. Graham had the spotlight first and promptly wore me out! Haha. Even though he was all over the place, we managed to get some cute photos of him. We tried to get some family photos, but Graham would have none of it! He had had enough!! Grandma Mary came along with them to help keep Graham busy and she was a blessing! Thanks Grandma Mary!

Recently, I met Ashley Wilson, owner of Tummy Yummy Creations and it was truly a "sweet" experience! She's such a sweetheart and has created some of the most delicious cookies that I have tasted (and believe me, I've tasted PLENTY! lol). Yesterday, we did a photo shoot of some of her cookies for display in her store, and I wanted to post a few of my favorites. We did this at lunch time, and I gotta tell ya.....I almost swiped one while she had her back turned, lol. Her cookies are HUGE and I had to make sure that I picked up all the crumbs....you know....to keep the surface clean for the pictures sake, of course. Ashley was sweet enough to give me some of the cookies after the shoot. Yes, I shared with my family...a little bit anyway, lol.

Well school has started and now it's back to the grind, lol.

In celebration of the Class of 2009 starting their week as Seniors, I am offering a special just for them!

Any 2009 Senior can call and schedule a session with no session fee!
That's a savings of $100!

Of course there are rules, lol.

1. Sessions must be held by the end of September.

Your school may tell you where to have your yearbook photo taken, but that doesn't mean that you have to have your senior photos done there too! You have a choice!

With that being said, PICK ME!!! lol

Seriously though, you have a choice in where to have your senior photos done and now you have a NEW choice! There is a NEW photographer in town!! My name is Angi Caples and I'm opening a studio in West Monroe. My specialty is Senior Photography. I love working with seniors and want you to have a fun session with great images that showcase your UNIQUE personality!

Let me tell you a little about a session with me. First of all, I want your senior photos to be ones that reflect your personality, so I encourage you to bring things that are special to you to have in your photos. If you have hobbies, musical or artistical talent, boarding or other activities you are involved in, we can find some really creative ways to showcase that. Your session with me will last at least an hour and depending on how much fun your having or how many clothing changes you want, it can last for up to 3 hours.

I'm the kind of photographer that is not going to have a few poses to make you do and a short time do to them in. That's not what I am about. I am about making you feel great, look great and have fun! I want you to tell me about any ideas that you may have and see what we can do to acomplish it! And don't worry if you think it sound like a dumb idea, you'll never know if you don't try it! (and I'll let you in on a little secret......I've had a ton of dumb ideas...some turned out pretty cool!)

Ok, so here's the deal....Since I'm new to everyone I want to make an offer to the Class of 2009.

From now until July 31st, book your date, pay your session fee and you will receive 100 free wallets and 10 lo-res images for your myspace or facebook page. You don't have to hold the session in July, but the session fee needs to be paid to reserve your date.

Please note that we are no longer accepting sessions in Texas. My husband and I are returning to Louisiana to be closer to our family. Chris and I have enjoyed our time in the Austin area and will miss this beautiful area. I was hoping to be able to get some bluebonnet sessions in before I left, but Chris took a job and we will return sooner than expected.

I will soon be available in the Monroe area as well as Homer and Haynesville. I will be looking for Senior Models at the local high schools to jump start the 2009 Senior season.

I will also be looking to either rent a studio or build one in Calhoun, so be watching for an update!!!

Thank you everyone for all your well wishes and warm thoughts. We have been truly blessed to be able to spend the past couple of years in Texas and meet some wonderful people. Let's all stay in touch!!

I met this Senior when I was photographing Mary Ann and Reggie and couldn't resist doing some photos for her at the Lake. The next morning, we met up in town and did a session around the square in Homer. This is such a sweet girl! And so pretty! I really hope she enjoys her photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

I had a great session with Mary Ann and Reggie! I've known these 2 for years and have always loved their fun interaction with each other. Such a blast to be around! Sweet Little Girl!

Today I met one of the cutest and sweetest little girls! And boy was she active!! We had a lot of fun today and I can't wait to photograph her again. She's the first to get her picture taken with my new brick wall, hardwood floor, rug and my gold chair. I've been dying to use these and this little miss sure gave them and me a workout!!
