Sybil
Meet Miss Sybil! Another of my beautiful nieces! We had a wonderful family weekend together and we did some family photos of my brother and his family. Sybil is the sweetest little baby girl! She smiles very easily and loves the camera!

We had a beautiful new addition to our family in June....Miss Olivia! My brother in law and his wife are the proud new parents of this beautiful little lady. I will enjoy taking more photos of her!
Pet photography
In May, my husband I finally got a new member in our family....a little French Bulldog that we named Rosco!!! My daughter also got a puppy (that was the size of a small horse, lol) she named her Golden Retreiver Butterscotch. She's a very yummy creamy yellow.
I really enjoyed taking these photos and plan to expand to pet photography.

It's been a while....
It's been a while since my last post and lot's of things have happened with Studio 3C. Sadly, I've had to close the studio in West Monroe. We're still doing business, just not in the studio right now. The plan is to build something at our home in Calhoun next year. For right now, we are working on location only.
We are looking forward to cooler weather for sure!!! This fall, we will be having openings for mini-family sessions to get your Christmas cards done. Lots of new card designs will be available to choose from!

Jessica ~ Senior 09
Yesterday my cousin and her daughter come to the studio for Jessica's senior photos. I hadn't seen Jessica in a long time, but I recognized her in an instant...She looked just like her mom at that age! I had a great time visiting with them and got some great images! Jessica is very photogenic! With two other girls in high school, we'll be doing more senior sessions!!

Lindsey ~ Sr. 09
Sunday I met up with Lindsey and her mom to some of Lindsey's Senior photos. Lindsey had some really great ideas that she wanted to try and I loved them all! We started the session close to home where Lindsey had this great green truck from the 70's. Then a trip to one of her favorite spots close to her home that required us making our way down a HUGE embankment. I was praying the whole time I was heading down it, not to keep us from falling, but to please let me make it back up it!! lol
The trip was worth it though! The photo on the fallen log is my favorite one taken!!
Out in the country, we arrived at a Gorgeous place with some beautiful horses! Lindsey and I both want to go back there and get some more shots. I loved watching her interact with the horses and as you can tell, I think they were loving it too! She really has a way with them! I played around with this image with the horses to make it look more like an art piece than a photo.
Lindsey, I had a great time and really enjoyed seeing you again and meeting your mom! I can't wait to have another session with you! Thanks again!!

Houston, Texas Senior
This weekend I had the opportunity to travel to Houston, Tx and have a personal workshop with Jordan Chan of Tricoast Photography. Jordan arranged to have this beautiful Texas senior model for me. We walked around to several different areas in downtown Houston and even keep shooting into the night. Needless to say, this old girl was tired! lol.
We had a great time and I really enjoyed working with Jordan and Alanah. Jordan is a great photographer and very inspiring! Alanah is becoming a model and is also a photographer and I believe that she will do very well!

Protect Small Businesses from CPSIA ruling over children's products
Have you ever purchased a toy, blanket or shirt from a craft fair? Or bought a handmade item for your child, grandchild or family member? Some of the time you pay a little more for a handmade item than you do from something from one of the chain stores, but you're paying for quality. You appreciate that. I know that I do.
Soon you may not be able to purchase handmade items for your children.
Here's why....
On Feb. 10th thousands of small business will face closure due to a new law passed by President Bush and Congress. While this law was put in place to protect our children from harmful chemicals in their toys, the far reaching aspect was not taken into account and thousands of people will be hurt. Small business/craftsmen/artisans will not be able to afford the required testing of items that do not contain the hazardous chemicals.
A hand knitted hat for a baby that I paid $18 dollars for in November will cost me no less than $168 after Feb. 10th. I do a little knitting so I know that the actual cost of this hat was around $5 for the 1 skein used. No other items are needed on it. The knitter that made the hat will now have to pay for testing on items that she makes. If that item contains more than 1 component (ie buttons, zippers, ribbon or a 2nd skien of yarn) then she will have to pay for tests to be performed on those items as well. Testing will begin around $150 per item. If she makes a sweater with 2 different types of yarn and has buttons or snaps on it, then she will have to pay for 3 tests (1 for each different yarn and 1 for the buttons OR snaps.) If those tests are a min. of $150....do the math.....3 x $150 = $450 + cost of goods......Can YOU pay almost $500 for a childs sweater? Well, you may have to IF this artisan is able to stay in business. Most of these people will not survive.
This law is not protecting our children. Most items that will be tested will not contain lead in any form. The cost of testing will trickle down from the big manufacturers to the retail outlets. The consumer will eventually pay for the cost by being forced to pay higher prices for necessary items such as clothing, diapers, bedding. Just what we need just as our economy is going downhill on a daily basis. Smaller businessess and crafters/artisans that make unique and one of a kind children's items will pay the ultimate price. They will simply not be able to pay the testing and pass it on to their client, nor can they simply absorb the cost. Thousands will be forced to stop producing their items. For many, that means bankcruptcy. On the web, Feb. 10, 2009 is being call "National Bankruptcy Day".
While everyone is in agreement that our children should be protected, the way this law was written was not thought out properly. The law came about due the public outrage at all the recalls of the toys that contained lead. Requiring toys arriving from China to be certified as lead free is one thing......requiring a Stay at home mom that knitts baby hats to submit her items for lead testing is another.
This law needs to be repealed and re-written. It needs to outline EXACTLY what poses a threat to our children and GUIDLINES on what is to be tested. Not just a generalization for an age group.

Happy New Year!!!

The Grahams
One thing I can say about this family....WOW! So much love is what makes this family wonderful. I've known Carol and Blain for several years now and they are such loving people and I am so happy to be able to present them with family portraits. Their daughter is absolutely beautiful! I could have photographed her all day! Especially when she started doing her "Top Model" poses!! I can't wait to do some more photos of her!

Meet Mindy and Blake!
Mindy is a Senior and wanted some special photos done at her session. She loves her little cousin Blake and he happened to be in town for Thanksgiving. We did some photos of the two of them together before he had to go home. Blake is such a cutie!!! And such a HAM too!! We did some of Mindy by herself while Blake was ignoring us and having fun running around the studio. Ohhhh if we could only bottle that energy.....lol.
I'll be posting more images of both Mindy and Blake in 2009. Mindy will have a couple more sessions before she graduates and Blake will have in own session scheduled in May when he comes to see is cousin graduate! I'm SO looking forward to more sessions with them both! I had a wonderful time! I love sessions that are full of laughter!

Sweet baby
On Thanksgiving day, I went to my brother and sister-in-law's house in Texas. One week before, my sweet little niece was born and this was my chance to get to see her. She is so tiny and sweet! She slept pretty much the entire time I was there...that is until I got my camera out, lol. Then she was awake, and apparently didn't like the poses I put her in, lol. I managed to get some cute shots of her and can't wait to take some more of her!

I'm happy to announce that Mini sessions are now available for your Holiday gift giving and Christmas cards! Instead of asking for a small session fee for the mini sessions, we are asking that you bring a bag of canned goods that will be donated to a local pantry to help feed families in need this season. A $50 deposit will be required in order to book and hold your session date. This deposit will be applied to your package of choice.

Nichole ~ Senior 2009
This week I had a session with Nichole, a senior from West Ouachita. Nichole and her mom came to the studio and we had a great time! They are so much fun to be around. Nichole is a great softball player and brought her homerun softballs and her Aaron's Aces shirt. I'm so glad I got to meet both of thess ladies! Nichole, best of luck with your games this year!! I'll see if I can't come take some photos at some of the games.
